She woke with the worst case of sunburn I'd ever seen over her shoulders and chest, exacerbated by the first dose. We spent a very uncomfortable day at the local hospital, who advised us to see a local doctor privately, as they had never seen anything this bad—and this was a country where tourists torture themselves in the sun daily. We visited the local doctor, who prescribed sulphur cream but advised us to get back to Sydney as soon as possible to tackle the infection which would undoubtedly set in, and to see a plastic surgeon. As we had only two nights remaining and could not change our return flights, we decided to stay and do the best we could. The following morning, after two applications of the prescribed cream, there was no improvement, and I was more than happy to be checking out of our accommodation and heading back to Nadi for the night. I was considering seeing another doctor on arrival. During the morning, my granddaughter was approached by a total stranger who offered her assistance, saying she believed she could help her problem. I could see no harm in this and supervised as the stranger applied sprays to the affected area and calmed the stubborn child into a frame of mind where she even agreed to tie her hair back, which was aggravating the injury—a task I hadn't been able to manage. Once we moved back to Nadi and I felt closer to civilization, I decided to wait the extra day to get medical attention back in Sydney. The burns hadn't changed, but my granddaughter seemed to be a different person! She was calm, she was happy, despite the obvious pain she was in. The following morning, 26 people (our family) met in the hotel lobby to leave for the airport, and all mouths gaped open at what had become the topic of conversation for the trip. We had one healed child. All the blisters had disappeared, there was no sign of infection, and best of all—absolutely no scarring. The fresh skin now exposed was healthy and quite pink, and still is two months later. This is a far cry from the scarring we were expecting. There was no reason to even visit a doctor upon our return. I have since been in contact with this wonderful lady who offered so much to total strangers, and I’m now experimenting with some of the products myself. This could be a whole new story in itself, as one of the products in particular is showing a very positive influence in my daily marketing strategy.
